Summer Birthdays

Recently had a string of summer birthdays to make cards for.  For the first one, I used the Life's A Beach cartridge using the flip flop card.  Also cut the wave from this cartridge & the summer cocktail dangle for the inside.  The dots on the front are stamped.

For the second card, I used Life's A Beach again to cut a palm tree and I used Nifty Fifties to cut the car. [cut 2 of the care base so you can add one to finish the inside flap]  For the card base, I recycled a promotion invitation I received from the Marriott.  I used 4 different Tim Holtz embossing folders on the palm tree leaves, the coconuts, the water, and the hub caps on the car.  I originally stamped the happy birthday sentiment in yellows to represent the sun... didn't quite turn out as I originally wanted on the sample so I did some adjustments.  Wish I had stamped all the white space with the sentiment & then attached the palm tree, but I like the overlaping effect of the words nonetheless.

The last card isn't birthday, but father's day... I wanted to try out a technique so I card-lifted the design from a Wild Strawberry's blog:  http://awildstrawberry.blogspot.com/2010/06/tim-holtz-embossing-folders-more-cricut.html.  Her version is more colorful... thinking I'm gonna need some more practice working with inks & chalks on embossed cardstock, lol.  The card base uses one of Tim Holtz's embossing folders, the sentiment is cut from the Wild Card cartridge, & the stamp on the inside is Tim Holtz as well {what can I say, I asked for a lot of Tim Holtz products for Christmas... figured I better start using them}
